The Treasure of God's Word compiled by Jack Countryman

I received this book through Thomas Nelson and BookSneeze.com and I am not required to give this book a positive review.  I am disclosing this information to you in accordance with Federal Trade Commission guidelines.  The views expressed in this post are my own.

This is an absolutely beautiful book! Burgundy leather with gold lettering, gold gilded pages and a fanciful, yet easy to read font. These make it perfect for gift giving...but you'll want to keep it for yourself.

The book contains some of the most loved and well known passages of scripture from the original King James Version of the Bible.  There are sections on God's patience, forgiveness and righteousness as well as our (humanities) desire, humility and servanthood.  This book covers it all.  It will become a go-to for words of encouragement and reminders of our Fathers' promises to us for all who decide to purchase it.

The real highlight of of this book for me were the bits of history scattered throughout.  History regarding how the first King James Version came about, history regarding the addition and removal of the Apocrypha and how the KJV came to be viewed in everyday life.

As a side note, for those who do not know what the Apocrypha are, they are early Christian writings that were not accepted into the canon text of the Bible as they were not able to be authenticated as the holy inspired word of the Lord.  They are simply teachings, sermons and collections of letters by early church leaders.  Probably some very interesting reading, but they do not belong in the Bible, as the Bible is the infallible word of God, not the word of man.

I believe you will throughly enjoy this compilation of scripture and history.  It's a beautiful gift book, a wonderful coffee table book and an excellent bedside companion for those moments of searching when you need the word of God to ease your spirit and mind.
